The Guild Philosophy
The Guild was started in 1985 by a group of Greater Vancouver woodworkers.
At its inception, it was made up of a combination of amateur and professional
woodworkers. That same tradition holds true today in the Guild, which
has members from all walks of life.
The
philosophy of the Guild is to bring together people that have an interest
in any aspect of woodworking, at any level of skill, so they can learn
from each other. The Guild is also dedicated to raising the level of
awareness of woodworking in the eyes of the public.
The
Guild is a non-profit society and is self-funded through membership
dues and fees charged for attendance at workshops. For anyone who is
involved with woodwork as a hobby or as a profession, the Guild provides
the perfect environment to learn, exchange ideas and to enjoy the fellowship
of other woodworkers.
While
the Guild is dedicated to promoting excellence in woodworking, it cannot
be stressed strongly enough that any skill level of woodworker is welcome.
The experienced woodworkers enjoy helping beginners as much as the less
experienced members appreciate being helped.
